Mars Hill Lecture - Dr. Michael Lindsay

    7:00-8:30pm

    Geneva Lyceum

Geneva annual Mars Hill Lecture will take place in the school's Lyceum and is free and open to the public.  This year's guest lecturer is Dr. Michael Lindsay, President of Image result for gordon college presidentGordon College. Dr. Lindsay earned his Ph.D. in sociology from Princeton University and graduate theological degrees from Wycliffe Hall at Oxford University and Princeton Theological Seminary. Prior to arriving at Gordon, Dr. Lindsay was a member of the sociology faculty at Rice University, where he won multiple awards both for his teaching and his scholarly research. The author of two dozen scholarly publications, Dr. Lindsay's Faith in the Halls of Power was nominated for the nonfiction Pulitzer Prize in 2007. He is also an "Outstanding Alumnus" of Baylor University and a friend and supporter of Christian and classical education.  Dr. Lindsay will be speaking under the title "Legacy of Influence."  He will also speak about college and planning for the future to our RS on the following Wednesday morning at a special assembly.

The Mars Hill Lecture, sponsored by Geneva’s School of Rhetoric, is named after the place in Classical Athens where councils and trials were held.  Mars Hill, also known as the Areopagus, was also the place where the Apostle Paul, inspired by an altar inscribed “to the unknown god,” delivered his famous sermon recorded in Acts 17.

Past Mars Hill Lectures have been given by Dr. Mark Allen (UTSA), Dr. J. Budziszewski (University of Texas), Dr. Bridget Drinka (UTSA), Dr. David Lyle Jeffrey (Baylor University), Greg Koukl (Stand to Reason Ministries), Dr. Louis Markos (Houston Baptist University), Eric Metaxas (noted author), Dr. David Naugle (Dallas Baptist University), Dr. Hal Poe (Union University) and Dr. Steve Jones (Houston Baptist University).

Please join us for the last meeting of the year to fellowship and be encouraged. We will gather in the collaborative space of the new Grammar School building.

You will hear from a panel of moms who have overcome challenges in their lives and are using their experiences for good.  Bad things exist and happen but God can work them for good (Romans 8:28).  He makes beauty out of the ashes of our lives (Isaiah 61:3).  The panel of moms have overcome wounded childhoods, difficult marriages, grief, idolatry and addiction.  Bring a friend and come experience God's goodness in the witness of these Kingdom-Minded Moms.  All are welcome!
