Steve Griffey, Presidentsteve-griffey-2

Steve was born in Water Valley, Mississippi and lived in several cities across the South. His family settled in San Antonio during his middle school years where he remained through high school and college. Steve earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Public Relations from the University of Texas at San Antonio. After college, he worked as a director for the YMCA in Northwest Houston. Steve and his wife Wendy moved to San Antonio in order to be closer to Wendy’s family. After moving back to San Antonio, he started working in the family business to help begin and grow their San Antonio footprint and launch the franchise operation.

Steve and Wendy have four daughters: Gabrielle (Class of 2019), Sydney (Class of 2022), Sofia (Class of 2024), and Addison (Class of 2028). Steve has served in the lunchroom for several years and coached a variety of Geneva kids over the years in soccer, t-ball, and basketball. Most recently he helped to start the Geneva Youth Sports League and served as one of the commissioners for basketball.


Steve Drukker, ChaplainSteve Drukker

Steve was born in Detroit, Michigan and grew up in Michigan. He graduated from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan and then made his way to Texas. He went to medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. His training as a hand surgeon led him to spend time in Dallas, Atlanta, New York, and a short stint in Toronto. After practicing in Albuquerque, NM for four years, he finally returned to Texas in 1997 and has lived in San Antonio/Boerne since then. He is presently a partner in The San Antonio Orthopaedic Group primarily in the North Central and Medical Center offices.

Steve has been married to his wife Nancye since 1987. They have a daughter, Meredith, who was in Geneva’s first graduating class (Class of 2011) and presently attends the University of Texas at Austin Law School. Their son, Saunders (Class of 2013) attends Sewanee: The University of the South. Steve loves the impact Geneva has had on his children and family.

Steve has served at Geneva on the Admission Committee for a number of years and has been active in children’s and student ministries and has taught Apologetics for senior high. He and Nancye attend Trinity Presbyterian Church.

Karen was born and raised in Sacrament, California. She graduated from California State University, Sacramento in 1989 with a degree in Business Administration. Karen worked for Browning-Ferris Industries as a Human Resource Manager and was a Human Resource consultant for systems implementations. She has been married to her husband, Mark, for sixteen years. The Abell family moved to Boerne in 2012 from Medina, Texas. They have one daughter, Lauren (Class of 2022).

Karen and her family are members of Currey Creek Church. Karen has volunteered in various areas around campus, including maintaining the used uniform closet, serving as a Grammar School Room Mom, doing lunch duty, helping with book fairs, attending field trips, and assisting with the Jogathon and Eaglefest.


Charles Garcia, Secretary

Charles grew up in a military family and moving around the country only strengthened his awareness that Texas is a place he wanted to call home. When he and his wife, Annette, relocated the family – Chaz (Class of 2020), Dominic (Class of 2023) and Audrey (Class of 2027) – to San Antonio in 2010, they brought with them a commitment to classical Christian education.

Charles has degrees in Psychology (Univ of Houston) and Law (Taft Law School) which have served him well in the Financial Services industry as a Certified Financial Planner™ with both large firms and his own small business. Charles currently works as a project and program manager within USAA’s financial advice division.

Charles enjoys teaching Sunday school and workplace Bible studies as well as organizing men’s gatherings. His family is actively involved with Redeemer Presbyterian in downtown San Antonio as well as a church plant in NW San Antonio; Trinity Grace.

A native Texan, Carrie grew up in San Antonio. She graduated from Baylor University in 1990 with a BA in Telecommunications. Marketing, Human Resources, and developing/implementing training programs have been her professional focus for the past twenty years, specifically in the arena of green homebuilding and design.

Carrie is married to Johnny and they have three children (plus nieces and a nephew) at Geneva: John Henry (Class of 2021), Jackson (Class of 2021) and Kate (Class of 2025). They have enjoyed ten years as part of the Geneva community. Carrie has served on the Admissions Committee for six years and in the classroom as a Music Docent for nine years. She currently serves as coordinator for Geneva’s Art and Music Docent Program. Through the Docent Program, she has treasured building relationships with entire classes of Geneva students—many of whom she now cheers for quite loudly at a variety of Geneva sporting events. Carrie and her family are members of Currey Creek Church and they share a passion for adoption and foster care.


Jody Goodman, Memberjody goodman

Jody was born and raised in Texas. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1992. Jody worked for Wilsonart International, K&M Home Building, and Harvard Manufacturing prior to beginning his twenty year career in the telecommunications business. He co-founded Goodman Networks in 2000 and has served on their board of directors for fourteen years, where he also served as an officer of the company. Jody was led to start the company’s weekly prayer meeting and a yearly three-day fast.

Jody is married to Gaby. The Goodmans moved in 2011 to Boerne from Flower Mound, Texas, looking for a Hill Country view and a slower pace of life to raise their family. They have three children who attend Geneva—Jayne (class of 2020), Julianna (Class of 2022) and Jacob (Class of 2025). Jody and his family are members of Currey Creek Baptist Church. Jody enjoys volunteering around campus and currently serves on the Geneva Admissions Committee.


Charlie Lunsford, MemberCharlie Lunsford

Charlie was born in Washington, D.C. and moved to Kingwood, Texas for his junior high and senior high school years. He attended Baylor University and graduated with a BBA in Marketing and Management in 1989. He has worked in the technology industry since then, the last twenty years with Hewlett-Packard. Charlie and his family moved to Boerne in 2003. He helped plant Faithbridge Church in Spring, Texas, where he served on the elder board from 1998-2003.

Charlie is married to Libby (Freeman) Lunsford, and they have three daughters: Claire (class of 2011), Mary Kate (Class of 2012) and Caroline (Class of 2015). Charlie and his family are members of Trinity Presbyterian Church. He has served in leadership for Bible Study Fellowship and is a past president of the Geneva Booster Club.


Tiffany Smith, MemberTiffany Smith

Tiffany was born in Norman, Oklahoma and spent the majority of her childhood in south central Oklahoma. She received a BS in Occupational Therapy from the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio in 1994. Tiffany worked in physical rehabilitation as an Occupational Therapist until the birth of her children in 1999. Tiffany is married to Larry Smith and they have boy/girl twins who attended Geneva since their kindergarten year and are members of the graduating class of 2017.

The Smiths moved from San Antonio to Boerne in 2008 to be closer to the Geneva community. Tiffany has enjoyed volunteering at Geneva and has helped fill volunteer needs in many different areas over the years. One of her most treasured volunteer positions has been facilitator of mom’s weekly prayer time. The Smiths attend Oak Hills Church in San Antonio.


Dave Tippit, Memberdave

Dave was born in Chicago but spent his childhood living in a variety of places, from the Pacific Northwest to Europe to San Antonio. He graduated from Baylor University, where he received a BBA in Finance. For the last several years, he has ministered primarily in countries of the developing world. Dave has traveled to forty-five countries around the world, which has been his greatest education in life.

Dave married his high-school sweetheart Kelly (Hotchkiss) in 1996. He has three children who attend Geneva: Taylor (Class of 2019), Riley (Class of 2021) and Braden (Class of 2025). Dave has been a reader in various Geneva classrooms, coached GYSL basketball teams, and helped assist with the administration of the GYSL basketball league.


Bret Wacker, MemberBret Wacker

Bret is a native Texan and a graduate of Texas Tech University with a BS in Petroleum Engineering. After working for Chevron, Bret returned to school and received his teaching certificate from San Francisco State University. He taught math at Burton High in San Francisco for two years before moving to Austin to attend the University of Texas at Austin for graduate school. After receiving his MS in Statistics, Bret has worked for a series of pharmaceutical research companies doing design and analysis of drug studies, primarily in oncology.

Bret and his wife, Paula, were one of the founding couples of Geneva. They have five children: Thomas (Class of 2012), Jonathan (Class of 2014), Daniel (Class of 2016), Ruth (Class of 2018) and Grace (Class of 2021).

Kevin was born in Denver, Colorado and moved to Texas as a teenager. He graduated from high school in San Angelo and received an accounting degree from Abilene Christian University. Upon “understanding his limitations as an accountant,” Kevin went to law school at Texas Tech and graduated in 1988. He practiced with larger law firms in San Antonio until he and his partners started their own firm in 1999 (www.PHY-law.com). Kevin spends most of his time working on business litigation cases.

He and Cindy have four children: Whitney (Class of 2013), Delaney (Class of 2016), Nathan (Class of 2019) and Jackson (Class of 2021).  The Young family attends Currey Creek Church.

Kevin was a member of the school board from 2001-2009 and served as President of the Board from 2004-2009. He has served on various committees and helped coach a few teams over the years. Kevin states, “We are committed to the school because we believe in its mission, we are deeply thankful for friendships formed over the years, and we understand (first hand) the benefits of a complete Christian and classical education.”


Jim Guy Egbert, Member

Jim Guy is a 3rd generation San Antonio native.  After receiving his degree in Agricultural Economics from Texas A&M University, he began an initial career with AT&T, holding a number of management positions both in San Antonio and Austin in Engineering and Construction Services.  Resigning from AT&T in 2006, Jim Guy began what would be a 10 year career at Roalson Interests Inc., a commercial real estate firm in San Antonio, where he enjoyed building strong relationships with clients and peers and working on a number of real estate projects throughout Central and South Texas.  In December of 2016, Jim Guy joined Bill Miller BBQ, where he currently serves as President and CEO.

Jim Guy and his family have been at Geneva for the past 7 years.  He married his high school sweetheart, Heather, in 2001 and together they have three children at Geneva:  Rider (Class of 2023), Madeline (Class of 2025) and Levi (Class of 2030). Jim Guy has served in a variety of ways throughout campus.  He has been a classroom reader, served on several committees, and been involved with GYSL as a league commissioner and a coach.  He is a member of Currey Creek Baptist Church, involved in Bible Study Fellowship, active on committees in the City of Boerne, and a life member of The San Antonio Livestock Exposition.
