Why do you say that athletics is an “artificial endeavor?”

We believe that the adult-like but artificial situations presented within athletic competitions contribute significantly to the mission of our school by creating lifelong learners, servants and leaders for God’s glory.  Athletic endeavors provide students the opportunity to develop discipline and habits of good stewardship of their bodies and their health.  In addition, we believe that athletic competitions provide students with an opportunity to confront “adult” situations in an artificial setting.  Risk vs. reward, personal achievement vs. the good of the team, passion vs. self control and conflict resolution are just of few of the “adult” scenarios our athletes may encounter within the boundaries of our athletics program.
