One Act Play Takes 3rd at State

The Geneva School of Boerne theatre troupe placed third in the TAPPS Division 2 State One Act Play Contest at the Cailloux Theater in Kerrville on November 14.

Geneva actors were awarded several individual awards for their performance of “Journey to the World’s Edge,” including Amber Bormann and Killian Richardson who were named to the All-Star Cast.

In addition, Kori Stringer earned Honorable Mention Cast recognition. Xanthis Barthel was named as All-Star Stage Manager.

“Journey to the World’s Edge” is a one act play about Brigid Shawn O’Grady of County Clare, Ireland – a young girl who just wants to fit in. Unfortunately, Brigid was born with a frightening difference.  After being shunned by the people of her village, she must undertake a dangerous quest to the World’s Edge in search of healing and courage.

“This story is an Irish folktale with a lot of heart. Our students had fun learning about the culture of this world and in portraying the fantastical creatures who call it home,” Geneva Director of Theatre Arts Rick Poole said.

The Geneva theatre troupe is directed by Poole and theatre tech is directed by Teri Bomgaars.
