Geneva announces its hiring of Amy Metzger to serve as Interim Head of School for the 2020-2021 school year. Metzger has served as Geneva’s Development Director for the last several years and excelled as a member of the Board of Trustees and a teacher prior to that. She and her husband Rob have been a part of Geneva since 2002 and raised three children who are now Geneva graduates.

Metzger replaces Head of School Brad Ryden who provided leadership to Geneva for the past 14 years. He and his wife Becky will move to lead a similar classical and Christian school called The Geneva School in Orlando, Florida this month.

“I am grateful for Brad Ryden and his faithful stewardship of this school and am humbled by the opportunity to serve our community during this time of transition,” Metzger said.

“We are grateful for Amy’s willingness to lead Geneva during this time of transition. Her wealth of professional experience, her extensive knowledge of Geneva’s distinctives, her deep relationships with the administration, faculty and families, and most importantly, her demonstrated commitment to Christ and His mission for Geneva, caused her to be the ideal candidate to lead our school this next year, ” Board Chair Debbie Ledoux said.

Geneva’s plan is to resume school on campus on September 8, 2020. The school continues to monitor local, state and national requirements and regulations regarding COVID-19 preparing to implement yet-to-be-determined best practices to protect its students, faculty and staff.

“We know that safety will demand flexibility and we are doing the hard work of trying to anticipate every likely scenario. A school-wide task force consisting of key stakeholders from administration, facilities, food service, communications, human resources, the business office, on-campus security team, as well as our school nurse has been formed to continue to monitor public policy, explore various scenarios, and anticipate potential needs,” Ledoux said.

Geneva is a classical and Christian school with 690 students in K-12 who participated in a virtual learning program during this spring of social distancing. The school celebrated its 20th anniversary this year and graduated 58 students in its tenth senior class on May 23.
