The Geneva varsity cross country team competed in the TAPPS 4A State Meet on Monday, October 29, at Cottonwood Creek Golf Course in Waco. The girls team finished as runner-up and the boys team placed fifth overall.

Girls results in 2-mile race:

  • Freshman Samantha Doran placed 8th out of 93 runners (14:09.3) and was a State Medalist with her top 10 finish.
  • Sophomore Alexis Davis placed 18th (14:58.9)
  • Junior Emma De Vries placed 21st (15:05.1)
  • Freshman Kaitlyn Cates placed 38th (15:44.6)
  • Freshman Piper Hoke placed 85th (19:26.8)

Boys results in 5K race: 

  • Freshman Nicolas Siller placed 15th out of 151 runners (19:15.3 )
  • Junior Noah Nilsson placed 23rd (19:40.0)
  • Senior Aedan Petty placed 42nd (20:44.1)
  • Sophomore Gabe Ross placed 45th (20:55.9)
  • Sophomore Michael De Vries placed 79th (22:22.6)
  • Junior Anson Eggerss placed 80th (22:23.0)
  • Junior David Grote placed 88th (22:44.4)

“I’m really proud of all of their efforts and more importantly, their inclusiveness of each other and their camaraderie as a team,” Geneva varsity cross country coach Karen Cate said. Cate’s husband, Eric Cate, is the assistant coach.
