The Geneva Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the hire of Dr. David Corbin as Geneva’s next head of school who will begin his new leadership role at Geneva on July 1. He currently serves as the Interim President, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Professor of Politics at Providence Christian College in Pasadena, California.

Dr. Corbin spent 10 years teaching at The King’s College in New York City where he served for three years as the dean of the school of Politics, Philosophy and Economics. He has a PhD in Political Science, has authored a book on Thucydides’ History of the Peloponnesian War and co-authored books titled Keeping Our Republic: Principles for a Political Reformation and A Reader’s Guide to Aristotle’s Politics.

“From the start of our search, we were confident that God would help us find a head of school with faith, humility and a commitment to classical education, allowing the GSB community to build on the work God began at Geneva 21 years ago. Our unanimous decision to hire Dr. Corbin demonstrates our confidence that his deep-rooted Christian faith, classical education background and courageous leadership will allow him to shepherd our school for years to come,” Head of School Search Committee Chair Brian Donovan said.

Though Dr. Corbin has formidable academic and classical credentials, Geneva Board of Trustees Chair Debbie Ledoux said the Board is most excited about his Christ-centered leadership.

“As we got to know David more deeply through the interview process, we were moved by his faith journey and demonstrated commitment to kingdom work. We also were deeply inspired by his absolute belief that classical and Christian education prepares children to be effective Christian leaders,” Ledoux said.

David and his wife, Catie, are parents of two school-age children, Eliza and Jack, as well as three adult children.

“Our family is thrilled to be joining Geneva in 2021. We feel extremely blessed to be part of a community of families dedicated to encouraging their children out of their love of Christ to grow into wise, courageous and loving servant-leaders. We look forward to the weeks and months ahead to meet all of you, as we are very excited to join arms in this kingdom-building work that seeks to glorify God,” Corbin said.

Long-time Geneva parent, faculty and staff member Amy Metzger has served as the interim head of school during this transition year as the Board of Trustees searched for a permanent head of school. Geneva has been led by three former heads: Brad Ryden served from 2006-2020, Leslie Moeller served from 2005-2006 and Susan Dunn was Geneva’s first head of school from 1999-2005.

“As Geneva enters an exciting head of school transition phase, we are deeply indebted to Amy Metzger for the exceptional leadership she has provided during one of Geneva’s most challenging years. Amidst incredible uncertainty, she has manned the helm with patience, grace and love. David and Amy are already collaborating on a smooth transition and we are confident David will be ready to lead on July 1. The Board is unwavering in our belief that God is bringing David to Geneva because he is the best leader for our school. We thank God for leading David and Catie to Geneva and are excited about the future that God has in store!” Ledoux said.

“We are so excited to welcome David and his family to Geneva and the Boerne community. Geneva’s history is one filled with evidences of God providing exactly what we need at the exact right time. We look forward to this new season with great hope and great confidence in the good things that lie ahead,” Metzger said.

Geneva is a classical and Christian school which was founded in 1999 with 13 students and has a current enrollment of 676 students in K-12.
