Geneva School of Boerne has named its 2023 Valedictorian and Salutatorian. These graduating seniors will deliver addresses at the Geneva Commencement Exercises in May.

Juliana Flores (shown on the left), daughter of Greg and Patricia of San Antonio, earned the distinction as Geneva’s 2023 Valedictorian. Juliana is a National Merit Semi-Finalist and was recognized by College Board as a Rural and Small-Town Scholar and Hispanic Scholar. Additionally, she was designated an AP Scholar with Honors. She currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of Geneva’s award-winning Yearbook, The Boardwalk. During her time on staff, The Boardwalk has won the TAPPS State Championship twice and received awards from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. She has also earned individual awards from UIL: The Interscholastic League Press Conference.

Juliana was a four-year member of Geneva’s Choir, earning TAPPS State Runner-up and individual All-State honors. Juliana also participated in Texas Music Educators Association’s Small School Choir Competition, advancing to Area competition the past two years, and was named Second-Alternate for All-State Mixed Choir this year. Additionally, Juliana serves as President of the Student Senate and actively participates in Geneva’s musical and theatrical productions as a performer and director.

Juliana has been accepted to The University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University and Penn State University, and is awaiting admissions decisions from several universities before she decides her plans for next year.

Elle Nicholson (shown on the right), daughter of Nicole and Jim Nicholson of Boerne, earned the distinction as Geneva’s 2023 Salutatorian. She was recognized as a National Merit Commended Scholar, a Rural and Small Town Scholar, and an AP Scholar from the College Board. Elle was a four-year member of the competitive debate team and served as captain her junior and senior year. She qualified for state in Public Forum Debate through the Texas Forensic Association this year and placed second in the TAPPS state Persuasive Speaking event her junior year.

Elle has participated in varsity and club volleyball, varsity soccer and varsity tennis as well as four years of orchestra, where she served as a section leader for three years. In addition, Elle wrote and published a children’s novel entitled Survivor that is aimed at educating readers about how humans are endangering tigers.

Elle has been accepted to The University of Texas at Austin and The University of Minnesota Honors Program. She is awaiting admissions decisions from several other universities before deciding where she will attend in the fall.
