Geneva welcomes Melissa McKenzie as its new Development Director. She will join the school’s Advancement Team on February 1. Melissa is a 20-year fundraising veteran who has spent much of her time in the health/charity sector at The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and most recently at the San Antonio Zoo. Her roles have spanned from local market fundraising to national strategic consulting as she guided staffs on fundraising best practices.

“We are thrilled to welcome Melissa to the Geneva Advancement Team. We have a big vision with a lot of exciting growth opportunities on the horizon with the recent purchase of land and plans to build an entrance with access I-10 access as well as capital campaign projects. Melissa will be a huge asset to our community as we continue to foster a culture of generosity, learning, service and leadership,” Head of School Dr. David Corbin said.

“I am eager to bring my expertise in annual fund campaigns, peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns, galas, special events, capital campaigns and legacy giving to build upon God’s blessing on the wonderful Geneva community and to support the development of servant leaders equipped to do hard things to the glory of Jesus Christ,” Melissa said.

Melissa graduated Summa Cum Laude from Austin College in Sherman, Texas, in 2004 with a double Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Religion with a minor in Leadership. She earned her Master of Public Administration degree from The University of Texas in San Antonio in 2010.

As a lover of endurance sports, she has completed two half-ironman triathlons, two marathons and multiple 100-mile cycle rides and half-marathons. She and husband Justin McKenzie are the parents of two sons—Geneva first-grader Mason and preschooler Taren.
