This Week in History

On December 1st, 1913, Henry Ford installed the first moving assembly line for the mass production of an entire automobile. With this new invention, he reduced the time it took to build a car from more than 12 hours to 93 minutes. Ford was determined to build motor cars for the great multitude. “When I am through, he said, about everybody will have one.” Inspired by the continuous-flow production methods he saw in other places like flour mills and meat packing plants, he created the first moving assembly line with 84 distinct steps to produce Ford’s Model T. This new system paved the way for automobiles for everyone. What do you think will be the next life altering innovation?

Did You Know?

Did you know that Geneva families wrote scripture on the studs during construction of the Grammar building? We see in scripture examples of homes and buildings being prayed over and dedicated to the Lord. How amazing that He chooses to be with us. Would we be a people who continue to write scripture on the walls of our homes and our school but most importantly, on our hearts so that as we daily dedicate our lives to Him, we would be marked by His wisdom and His peace.

Fun Faculty Fact

Cindy Young, our Librarian, was once a litigator and a labor and employment lawyer, practicing in Austin, Texas. After she moved to Boerne, she started volunteering at Geneva where all four of her children graduated– Whitney class of 2013, Delaney class of 2016, Nathan class of 2019, and Jackson class of 2021. Along with volunteering for the docent program that she helped found with Grammar’s Beverly Johnson and school founder Brian Fowler, her favorite volunteer activity was serving in the library. Mrs. Young loves children’s literature and her very favorite part of being Geneva’s librarian is getting to read to her students.  Thank you mrs.young, i loved hearing you read stories in grammar.
