Geneva junior Lauren Abell won second place in the VFW Post 688’s Voice of Democracy Audio Essay Contest for 2020-2021. More than 30 high schoolers wrote and recorded audio essays in Boerne this year. Abell was ranked among 12 finalists representing audio essays from Boerne High School, Boerne-Samuel V. Champion High School, Geneva School of Boerne and Texas Military Institute.
The top three audio essayists will receive certificates and cash awards of $200.00, $150.00 and $100.00. The top two audio essays will advance to VFW District 13 to compete for additional cash prizes against other VFW Post winners from around South Texas.
