Geneva School of Boerne freshman Mark Luffy and sophomore Johnny Hendershot received All-State Honors from the Texas Private School Music Educators Association. Luffy was named to TPSMEA’s All-State Jazz Band and Hendershot was named to TPSMEA’s All-State Orchestra.
Luffy earned First Chair Bari Sax for the Jazz Band. A total of 138 students auditioned for 21 spots in the Jazz Band. Hendershot earned Fourth Chair String Bass. A total of 66 students were selected for the All-State Orchestra. They will perform in Richardson, Texas on January 31.
In addition, Mark Luffy qualified to rehearse and perform with the 2026 Texas All-State Association of Texas Small School Bands Symphonic Band. Mark will perform on February 14 during the 2026 Texas Music Educators Association Clinic/Convention at San Antonio’s Henry B. González Convention Center.
Luffy was chosen for this prestigious honor through a competitive process of auditions at District, Region and Area levels. All-State is the highest honor a Texas music student can achieve. The process begins with about 60,000 students from around the state competing to perform in one of 18 ensembles.
