This Week in History
October 7, 1986 – Pizza Hut announced a plan to send pizza to space. (Which they eventually did in 2001.) It became the first pizza delivered to the International Space Station, complete with a vacuum-sealed pepperoni topping.
October 10, 1845 – The U.S. Naval Academy was founded in Annapolis, Maryland, with just 50 midshipmen and 7 professors.
Did You Know?
Did you know that there are three founding families of Geneva? Robert and Joanne Thornton, Cindy and Brian Fowler, and Paula and Brett Wacker. This dynamic group consisted of a homebuilder, bond trader, doctor, teacher, engineer, and social worker. They started with no building, no headmaster. Just 6 aligned hearts to God’s calling to bring Classical Christian education to Boerne, Texas.
Fun Faculty Fact
Alex Markous, 9th grade humanities and philosophy teacher, was his high school’s valedictorian graduating in 2013. He attended HSPVA, The Highschool for the Performing and Visual Arts, in Houston Texas. His school was just like Highschool Musical, where students sang and danced in the hallways. There was a talent show every month and Mr. Markous would even practice his trumpet in the hallway. We are so thankful Mr. Markous is here at Geneva!
